Dr. Philip DePalo

Dr. Philip DePalo is a subject matter expert in the area of healthcare interoperability. He joins the connectathon event to bring his experience working with industry leaders to transform healthcare.
Dr. Phil works as a consultant with HIMSS on their interoperability showcase, participates with HL7 working groups, has authored profiles with the IHE and still manages to publish in academia. He is a certified Project Management Professional, a HIMSS Fellow, and a Certified IHE Professional. In addition to founding Consultology, Phil continues to be an active SCUBA and public safety diving instructor, pilot, skydiver, USCG Captain, and active firefighter paramedic with his local volunteer fire department.
One of the missions of Connectathon, Inc. is to unite the implementation community. We saw an opportunity to host our first Connectathon Testing Event and Conference during a time when no other event was planned. We had proactively made contact with organizations such as HL7 and IHE inviting them to participate, at no cost, in our event and run their specific testing tracks. Our venue was large enough to accommodate at least 300 systems and respective participants. We had previously learned that there were no plans for an event in this time frame and we wanted to continue the progress of testing, validation, and further development of test methods that were meaningful to the implementation community.
Having learned recently, through public announcement, that IHE International and IHE USA are now planning a small connectathon event, during the exact same week as ours, we didn't want to dilute the progress of testing and validation as this goes directly against our mission. As such, we have decided to suspend our current event in February. We've already contacted all registrants and offered them a refund and hope they will consider supporting this upcoming IHE testing event in February.
